A colour change to red, pink or violet may indicate lead at the tested spot. If the tip retains its mustard-yellow or orange base colour, the test has not shown a colour reaction. The result is indicative; no colour change does not rule out lead.

You perform and read this test yourself at home. If you need an accurate measurement of the lead content or documentation for renovation, for example, a suitable laboratory analysis is required.
